Salary details: Grade 9, £40,778 - £45,092 plus market supplement (Pay award pending)

Job Overview
We are looking for two Principal Planning Officers to join the Development Management team to lead on some of the most strategic and complex planning applications in Doncaster. You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality development, helping to create sustainable, attractive, and well‑designed places.
As a Principal Planning Officer, you will have the chance to mentor junior colleagues, influence key planning decisions, and gain exposure to some of the most high‑profile applications in the city.
Key Responsibilities
* Proactively manage a complex caseload of development management cases.
* Determine and deliver high‑quality planning decisions for major, high‑profile developments.
* Collaborate positively with colleagues across the council and external stakeholders, including developers, elected members, and the public.
* Mentor junior team members and contribute to the professional development of the team.
* Champion digital planning transformation and innovative ways of working within the service.
Qualifications & Experience
* Significant experience in development management.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Strong teamwork and the ability to work under a challenging but interesting caseload.
* Demonstrated ability to influence planning decisions at a senior level.
* Experience in managing major planning applications and working with diverse stakeholders.
