Job Title: Patient Flow Co-ordinator - Acute Medical Unit
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Nurse in charge and Consultant in charge of the Acute Medical Unit to facilitate the smooth operational running of the department. They will interface with the site team, Divisions, Trust-wide and external NHS teams to achieve this. The Patient Flow Co-ordinator will be responsible for collating and organising all data pertinent to the operational running of the department, including ensuring the accurate and timely provision of information to be shared internally and externally, thereby informing decision-making.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive, high-quality, and professional administration service to support the Acute Medical Unit. They will play a key role in managing patient flow against the 4-hour target within the Emergency Zone and act as a point of contact for the team, providing diplomacy and tact when necessary. The role includes assisting in alleviating daily demands on the team, managing calls from wards and visitors, logging departmental data, and capturing actions during hospital escalations.
Additionally, they will support operational escalation processes by providing administrative support in emergency zone huddles, noting actions, and sharing necessary site information.

The ideal candidate will have developed IT skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with operational demands and performance metrics of the Acute Medical Unit.

The successful applicant will typically start at the minimum of the pay scale unless previous NHS service at the same band is credited. Progression is by annual increments.
