Lead the delivery of the Orthotics Service across the Health Board, overseeing the complex day‑to‑day operational activities and managing both employed and contracted Podiatry/Orthotics staff to ensure resources and professional skills are used effectively to meet service demands.
Hold managerial responsibility for the Podiatry/Orthotics service within the Carmarthenshire locality, deputising for the Head of Podiatry on all matters relating to this geographical area.
Main duties of the job
Be responsible for service planning and development within podiatry in Carmarthenshire, and the overall planning for orthotics within the three counties Health Board wide.
Ensure Podiatry and Orthotic interventions across the Health Board are delivered in line with National, Local, Departmental and Professional protocols, and are underpinned by current best evidence.
Lead the development of Health Board‑wide clinical pathways for Orthotic services and represent the organisation at Welsh Government level on Orthotics‑related matters.
Practise as an autonomous clinician within the Orthotic and MSK fields, independently managing a highly complex and specialist caseload.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* HCPC Registered Podiatrist/Orthotist
* Master's Level Degree/equivalent in relevant subject
* Demonstrate advanced, autonomous practice in the field of MSK podiatry/orthotics, such as diagnostic imaging investigation, injection therapy, orthotic measurement and provision in footwear/AFO/spinal bracing
* Certificate Health Education or Promotion
* MSc modules in podiatric/orthotic medicine in a specialist area
* Member of the Royal College of Podiatrists/BAPO
Experience
* Experience of effectively communicating very sensitive, highly complex condition related information to patients, relatives and staff members
* Extensive portfolio and evidence of continued professional development in practice/speciality, leadership, education and service development, including link to recent and significant relevant clinical practice at advanced practice level
* Expert knowledge of multidisciplinary teamwork within orthotics area
* Evidence of advanced decision‑making skills that reflect a patient focus
* Evidence of proactive involvement in the supervision and development of members of a multidisciplinary team
* Proven track record of successful service development
* Demonstrate a history of presentations and personal research
* Evidence of leading change in practice
* Experience of service development across professional boundaries
* Teaching & educational assessment experience

* Ability to travel across the Health Board area in a timely manner
