Job summary
This post is an exciting opportunity for those who wish to be part of an innovative developing service. The SET CAMHS Crisis and Therapeutic Home Treatment Team offer assessment and interventions to young people presenting with mental deterioration or crisis. We work within the Thrive model and implement collaborative care plans with community services and the community SET CAMHS team to promote positive outcomes for vulnerable young people and their families. There are opportunities for joint working, coordinating with community-based teams, and development of therapeutic approaches. New starters receive a full induction and opportunities to shadow the team and learn about the SET CAMHS model.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a friendly, supportive, dynamic and developing service based within Essex. You will work with motivated colleagues, have access to supervision (individual and group), and be supported with CPD through relevant training. There are opportunities to contribute to the care of young people within the A&E pathway as the service grows.
Responsibilities
* Skilled in assessment, formulation, management and delivery of therapy to people experiencing acute mental health crisis in community and hospital settings
* Experienced in assessing and managing clinical risk, using dynamic case formulation and collaborating with service users to agree treatment and safety plans
* Possess a current professional qualification (Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Psychotherapy or equivalent) and deliver evidence-based therapies (including DBT/CBT/Systemic & Creative therapies)
* Knowledge and experience of legal frameworks relating to care and treatment of children and young people (Children Act 1989, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983 as amended)
* Flexibility to work in a service operating 7 days a week 365 days a year, including unsociable hours
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; understanding networks surrounding young people and mental health crisis
* Ability to carry out high-quality Mental Health and Risk Formulation/Assessments and deliver talking therapies in various settings (homes, colleges, schools, community, and A&Es)
* Formulate highly specialist care and treatment plans; complete detailed written assessments in a timely manner
* Passion and enthusiasm for delivering high-quality care to young people and their families
* Use and management of clients’ electronic records
* Manage busy or complex workloads as part of a team
Qualifications and experience
* Open to Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN), Occupational Therapists (OT), Social Workers, Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Psychological Therapists (BABCP, HCPC); additional qualifications in therapeutic approaches such as DBT, EMDR, CBT, MBT, NVR, SFT are desirable
* Provide outreach evidence-based intervention to young people and families within the Home Treatment Community Pathway under the Thrive model
* Support to young people in A&E, via community SET CAMHS teams, and those discharged from Tier 4 units
* Confidence in working with complex presentations (trauma, emotional dysregulation, suicidal ideation/self-harm, attachment difficulties) and awareness of neurodiversity and the Mental Health Act
* Regular clinical supervision and reflective space; team operates on a shared risk model with collaborative formulations of need
