About the role
You will drive a lorry from our fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old, equipped to a high specification (e.g., fridges, leather seats and other extras). Most sites run Monday to Friday with 45-hour weeks and 9-hour shifts typically starting at 7–8am. Shifts are well-organised, and you often know in advance where you’ll be driving. There is job security within a growing global business. If you want additional hours, you can have them, with enhanced rates of pay for bank holidays and night-time hours (10pm–6am). You’ll join a friendly team that supports each other, including sharing traffic updates via WhatsApp.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan routes and manage your own schedule; average stops per shift are 4–6, with a 9-hour shift so you’re home at the end.
* Ensure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks reach customers on time.
* At some sites, goods are loaded/unloaded for you; at others, you perform the handling.
* Scan consignments and drive pallet trucks as part of daily duties.
* Inspect your vehicle and trailer daily and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
* Ensure everything is right first time for internal and external customers; communicate with customers and escalate queries to the site manager as needed.
The ideal candidate will have
* Class 1 Driving licence
* Driver CPC qualification card
* Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them
* Excellent knowledge of road transport laws and commitment to safe driving
* A can-do attitude
