The Role
As the Deputy Data Protection Officer you will ensure we meet our obligations under UK GDPR and related legislation, supporting and deputising for the Data Protection Officer, overseeing data compliance, promoting best practice and embedding a strong culture of privacy across all diocesan activities.
Additionally, You Will
* Act as the first point of contact for data protection queries
* Develop and maintain our privacy governance framework
* Coordinate and review data audits, risk assessments and DPIAs
* Monitor and review third‑party data sharing and processing arrangements
* Support the management of data breaches, complaints and subject access requests
About You
To be considered you will need:
* Experience in a similar role
* Experience in UK data privacy compliance
* Experience working within a faith‑based, non‑profit or charitable organisation
* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint
* The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
* A data protection or privacy certification such as CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, ISEB or willingness to obtain one within a short period of joining
