A vacancy may arise for a Flight Lieutenant (Any Profession) to serve as XO at 505 Sqn RAF St Mawgan on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 June 2026 (or earlier/later, subject to candidate status and position being vacated). This is an office-based appointment and the post holder’s duties will include: Manage the day-to-day business and output of 505 Sqn, in line with OC 505 Sqn's Direction and the Sqn Management Plan. Act as the deputy to the OC in his absence and member of the 505 Sqn Executives team. Acquaint OC 505 Sqn with all matters affecting 505 Sqn business, output, functioning and personnel. Manage the day-to-day operations and professional development of the HQ Support Flight. Manage the safety, welfare and morale of all Sqn Reservists and HQ staff. Liaison with HQ 2 Gp Res, ResCap, Branch and Trade Sponsors, RFCA and all stakeholders relevant to 505 Sqn's business. Be point of contact for all budgetary, infrastructure and resource issues and standards of maintenance. Exercise delegated financial authority for the efficient and proper management of their specified elements of the Sqn budget. Seek economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the use of all resources Manage the monitoring and reporting of 505 Sqn output and statistics required by various stakeholders, including F214 and monthly or quarterly returns. Oversee Sqn recruiting, social media, employer engagement and community engagement activities. Liaising with relevant Ops Sponsors / role Offices within HQ Air, to ensure that they are aware of Sqn availability, capability, requirements, priorities, and risks. Oversee Sqn social media updates and ensure compliance with the station and RAF media policy. Support the 505 Sqn Training Officer to ensure the planning, co-ordination and conduct of 505 Sqn collective training and exercises. Act as PoC to the RFCA, DRM and other reserve units in the region. Act as the Unit Employer Support Officer (UESO) for the Sqn. Commit fully to the operational effectiveness of the RAF and to the fitness of its personnel by supporting sport, directed PT and adventurous training. Supporting PTVR Reservist Duty Weekends, one per month.
