Permanent, Part Time - 18.5hrs per week, job share, will be considered.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as an Accounting Technician within the Accounting Support Hub (ASH) in the Financial Planning and Reporting team.
The Financial Planning and Reporting team leads the annual updating of the medium term financial plan for the council and the monthly budget monitoring.
The Accounting Support Hub process a wide range of different council transactions, including requisitions, invoices, journals, virements and reconciliations for the wider finance teams.
Key tasks will include:
1. Manage the day to day tasks of the team
2. Assist and support the Finance manager/Group accountant
3. Assist in the preparation and completion of a range of financial information to comply with the relevant legislation and the council's Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.
4. Provide financial and management accounting support across the range of Finance functions.
5. Support delivery of the medium-term financial planning, annual budget and closure of accounts processes.
6. Coordinate and complete government grant and other financial returns.
7. Provide financial information, expert analysis and advice to clients on business issues arising from the monitoring of performance of budgets to ensure value for money service provision.
Essential criteria:
8. NVQ Level 4 qualification such as AAT or equivalent.
9. Problem solver with significant experience of Unit4 Business World (Agresso) system.
10. Up to date knowledge of local government finance and accounting practices and know how they are applied to the Council’s financial systems.
11. Extensive practical experience of using spreadsheets and financial systems in the manipulation of data to develop financial models.
12. Experience of supporting the resolution of accountancy issues, utilising tools available.
13. Ability to work to tight deadlines in resolving a range of complex issues.
14. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in a written format to establish excellent working relationships with colleagues.

This role will be considered on a part time basis, and job share between 13-18.5 hrs across Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday. Please include your preference in the application.
