For over 30 years, Somerville Heart Foundation (SHF) has been providing peer support, advocacy, communication and a community for young people and adults born with a heart condition; Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD). Our vision is that people with ACHD live longer, happier and healthier lives. As the only UK-wide charity supporting this diverse community throughout their adult lives, we advocate for their rights to receive the best possible care, services and support. The role This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and highly organised individual to join our small friendly team and expand our reach. The Digital Marketing, Communications and Operations Officer will play a key role in helping to develop and support the ongoing work of the charity which has a commitment to campaign and advocate for improved treatment for young people and adults living with a congenital heart condition. SHF represents patients at national level promoting the rights and needs of adults who have a congenital heart defect. You will work as part of the small, friendly SHF team, demonstrating advanced communication skills and experience in digital marketing (eg through social media and website management) and with previous success in fundraising to: develop relationships with stakeholders engage with the people we support build on our existing donor base develop corporate and community partners nurture excellent working relationships identify opportunities to better engage with our community. You will ideally be a competent wordsmith with demonstrable experience of working with and engaging people from diverse backgrounds. You will spearhead our digital marketing communications, fundraising and operations to ensure the charity has the capacity to deliver against our strategic goals. Main responsibilities This is a varied and interesting role, fulfilling a crucial role in engaging with our stakeholders, through marketing, communications and fundraising to increase the profile of the organisation by developing connections and networks with existing and potential stakeholders to broaden our scope to a wider audience and better meet the needs of the people we support. This is an exciting stage in the charity’s journey and there is development potential for the right person who can make a huge impact on the charity, people with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), and other stakeholders. The main aims of the role are as below: Development potential for the incumbent post holder on the impact of the role on the charity, by raising awareness and increasing the profile of the organisation in developing connections and networks to further our reach To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the website and social media platforms delivering regular engaging, accessible digital audience led content collaborating with our staff and members To work flexibly and collaboratively across the charity ensuring alignment with our organisational aims and objectives and demonstrate the ability to embrace innovation to overcome challenges and identify new opportunities in the current health climate with the potential to participate in projects which best meet patient need To work with the team to create, support and implement robust communications and development strategies as well as creation and delivery of ambitious fundraising plans. You will be involved in the development and implementation of fundraising pipelines and income generation streams in line with our organisational strategy To bring enthusiasm, compassion, creativity with an ability to work under pressure, have great time management and self-discipline with problem solving skills whilst being receptive to direction and feedback.
