Salary and hours: Our Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 per hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. It’s our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too.
Availability: The times we’d like you to be available to work are shown in the availability windows. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be. Role overview: Customers are at the heart of everything we do. You’ll oversee the store from the shop floor and support store operations to run smoothly. You’ll face challenges as you lead the store to deliver great service for customers, colleagues and the community every day.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
* Lead duty shifts, coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Assist customers and ensure they leave with what they came for
* Coach colleagues and provide feedback to the team to improve service
* Guide and support colleagues, ensuring a safe place to work and shop
* Understand store performance and assist in actions to improve operations
* Lead by example and set a positive standard for the team

What you will do as a Shift Leader
* Coordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience
* Support colleagues to deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks
* Open and close the store, manage duty cover, and keep safety at the forefront
* Be the go-to person for day-to-day queries in the absence of a manager
* Maintain a clean, tidy and well-presented store
* Support managers with seasonal, community and charity events
* Create an inclusive, positive team atmosphere
* Provide excellent customer service and keep the team informed on communications and updates
* Stay informed about store performance and drive improvements
* Coordinate store improvements and remove obstacles to great service
* Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
* Recognise and celebrate colleagues who provide great service
