Main duties of the job

We are looking for an HCPC registered dietitian with experience of working in critical care to join our team of ICU dietitians at Southampton General Hospital on a fixed-term basis due to an internal promotion. The post holder will provide specialist nutrition support across our three adult intensive care units – general, cardiac and neurosciences as well as our surgical high care.

You will join our team of experienced critical care dietitians and a friendly, multidisciplinary team; as a member of the team, you will participate in ward rounds and MDT meetings. There will also be opportunities to engage in research trials, teaching medical and nursing staff, service evaluations, and service developments.

The department of dietetics and speech and language therapy employs approximately 130 staff, providing acute and community services in adults and paediatrics across various specialties.

Working for our organisation

University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering extensive learning and development opportunities. Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton provides an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs, and Jurassic Coast nearby.

We value technology and innovation, but also emphasize the importance of personalized applications highlighting your unique skills and experiences. We support flexible working arrangements to help balance family, study, or wellbeing commitments. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, safe, and empowered. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
