Job Description Fairer Futures (Child Poverty) Key Worker (Fixed Term) (4) Across Dumfries and Galloway TBC £32,475 - £34,632 Do you want to make a real difference for families in Dumfries and Galloway? Our Employability, Skills and Partnerships service operates across Dumfries and Galloway supporting the delivery of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s strategic priorities. The service directly contributes to and supports the ambitions set out in the Local Outcomes Improvement Plan 2017-2027, the Local Employability and Skills Partnership Delivery Plan 2022-26 and national strategies including the Scottish Government’s No One Left Behind and Best Start, Bright Futures. We are looking for compassionate and motivated Fairer Futures (Child Poverty) Key Workers, to join Dumfries and Galloway Council and support children and families experiencing poverty. You will work directly with individuals and families facing multiple and complex barriers, helping them access the right support build confidence and progress towards learning, training, volunteering and sustainable employment. This role is part of our contribution to the Scottish Government’s Fairer Futures programme, a transformational pilot that is reshaping how services support whole families. By building trusted relationships and connecting families with local services, you’ll play a vital part in improving outcomes for children and families and creating brighter futures across out communities. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a transformational change pilot across Dumfries and Galloway, working in partnership with local services, communities, and national stakeholders to improve outcomes for children and families. Requirements Key Responsibilities Manage a caseload of individuals, providing 1:1 and group support to help them overcome barriers to employment. Facilitate progression into and through the Employability Pipeline, tracking and monitoring outcomes. Build strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and employers to create tailored opportunities. Deliver high-quality employability and skills-based support and learning aligned with funding and awarding body standards. Act as a connector of local services, ensuring families can access holistic support through a single point of contact. Support the delivery of externally funded programmes and contribute to service improvement through live feedback. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience of working with individuals facing poverty and complex barriers to employment and associated specialist knowledge. The role requires strong partnership working skills and the ability to engage effectively with a range of key stakeholders including service providers and employers. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and data recording skills including confidence in using digital tools. An understanding of relevant local, regional, and national strategies, delivery frameworks and funding is desirable. The post-holder will be central to the delivery of externally funded contracts, including Scottish Government funding. A flexible, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach to supporting individuals and families is essential. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
