Overview
The Care & Support Worker role at Southern Housing on the Isle of Wight involves working as part of a team to provide personalised care and support to residents and people who use our services in line with established care and support plans. You will work with older people, frail elderly, people with a learning disability and autism, people with mental health issues and people with complex needs. The role provides services in supported housing schemes, extra care schemes and community-based services. The position is permanent and full time. Flexibility is required to cover evenings and weekends to meet service needs. You may be required to undertake sleep-in duties and be on the On-call rota. A vehicle with business use insurance is required, and you must be physically able to undertake moving and handling.
Location
Various schemes over the Isle of Wight, primarily Ryde, Ventnor, Newport.
What you’ll be doing
* Provide care to residents and people who use our services, as identified in their person-centred care plan. This may include some intimate personal care.
* Deliver care in a way which promotes independence, rights, choices, and inclusion in the community.
* Summon professional assistance in the case of an emergency.
* Ensure care plans and risk assessments reflect individual needs and wishes in line with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
* Hold 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent Grade 9-5) including Maths & English.
* Ability to listen and communicate effectively; good written communication and numeracy skills; basic IT skills.
* Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Able to work both as part of a team and unsupervised; knowledge of personal boundaries.
* Understanding of the requirements of CQC.
* Be willing to undertake sleep-in duties and be on the on-call rota if required.
