Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Passenger Assistant to join our team. As a Passenger Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and comfortable transportation of passengers, particularly those with special needs and disabilities, to and from their destinations.
Responsibilities:
* Assist passengers with disabilities, elderly individuals, and other vulnerable individuals during transportation, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
* Assist passengers in boarding and disembarking vehicles, including wheelchair users and individuals with mobility aids.
* Secure passengers and mobility aids safely within the vehicle, following established protocols and procedures.
* Communicate effectively with passengers to understand their needs and provide appropriate assistance and support.
* Monitor passenger behavior and respond promptly to any issues or concerns, being calm at all times.
* Work collaboratively with drivers and other team members to ensure the smooth operation of transportation services.
* Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations governing passenger transportation, including health and safety guidelines and disability discrimination laws.
* Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in passenger assistance and disability awareness.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation related to passenger assistance activities, including incident reports and service logs.
* Represent the council positively and professionally when interacting with passengers, stakeholders, and members of the public.
Requirements:
* PATS certification is recommended notessential.
* Enhanced DBS is a must
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with passengers from diverse backgrounds.
* Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and disability discrimination laws.
