Consultant Psychiatrist Kintyre and Islay

This General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist post is based in the rural areas of Kintyre, Islay, and Jura. The post holder is responsible for outpatient work as part of a multidisciplinary team, with one session in reach to the local inpatient ward to oversee admitted locality patients.
The Community Mental Health Team includes psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, psychology, and social work services. In-patient beds are located at Succoth Ward, Mid Argyll.
The successful applicant will provide consultant leadership within the community mental health team, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, crisis teams, social work, and voluntary organizations to deliver comprehensive services. Responsibilities include RMO duties under the Mental Health Act, domiciliary visits, legal work related to mental health and incapacity legislation, and collaboration with GPs and other agencies. Contributions to strategic and service development are expected.
Please note: Blended and remote working options will be considered.
The post involves 8 programmed activities (sessions) per week, with a 5:1 DCC:SPA ratio. The team is friendly, supportive, and forward-thinking, with opportunities for remote work and domiciliary visits. An active local academic program is available, and junior support is provided depending on trainee rotations.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register with a Licence to Practice or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
