Description Construction Employer Engagement Coordinator Join Cornwall’s New Era of Growth — Shape Skills to build growth The Service and Team The Growth & Skills team in Cornwall Council’s Economy, Regeneration & Assets Service, plays a central role in driving inclusive economic growth across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We lead the commissioning and delivery of skills and employment and employer engagement activity that supports our local economy, strengthens productivity and helps ensure residents have the skills and support needed to access good quality jobs. Working closely with employers, education and training providers, and regional and national partners, the team supports delivery of the Council’s wider economic ambitions. Working across our Distinctive, Core and Foundation Sectors, our work ensures that investment, development and regeneration are underpinned by a workforce with the right skills, at the right time. The Role As Construction Employer Engagement Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in shaping Cornwall’s future construction workforce. You will lead the local rollout of the Department for Education’s FE Teacher Industry Exchange Programme, working with construction employers and further education providers to strengthen the link between industry and education. This includes supporting industry expertise into the classroom and enabling FE teaching staff to gain experience on live construction sites. This is an outward facing, relationship driven role that supports also Cornwall’s wider housing, infrastructure and economic growth ambitions. In this role, you will: Lead and coordinate delivery of the FE Teacher Industry Exchange Programme across the construction sector Build and maintain strong relationships with construction employers of all sizes, FE colleges and training providers Work with key partners including Homes Cornwall and the South West Construction Technical Excellence College Coordinate teaching days, industry placements and wider employer engagement activity Support strategic partnership working to strengthen Cornwall’s construction skills system Monitor activity and produce reporting to ensure the programme meets agreed targets Working Pattern This is a flexible hybrid role, with travel as required to attend team meetings, meet employers and partners.
