Overview

Please note this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who receives direct payments.

A role is available as a Personal Assistant for a 26-year-old who is neurodivergent. He is a fun, kind and very generous person and enjoys building good relationships with his support team through shared interests and a wide range of activities. The role sits within an established and experienced team.


Responsibilities

* Facilitating independence and personal growth by working at home to inspire social, independence and general life skills.
* Practicing these skills when spending time in the community, noting and sharing successes or barriers encountered.
* Attend regular meetings, trainings and undertake relevant upskilling sessions for the role.

* Willingness to learn and implement a variety of techniques and prompting methods.

Hours and Pay

* Hours of work: 6-10 hours per week (or 16+ with some flexibility as information varies).
* Rate of pay: Self-employed role; typical guidelines are £16 for a 3-month training period and £18 moving forward.


Desirable and essential skills

* The ideal candidate would have some experience in Positive Behavioural Support (PBS); not essential as full training will be provided.
* Previous experience working with people who have additional needs is preferred.


Key information

* This role is primarily based in Killay, with activities in the community as well.
* The support programme is overseen by Skybound Therapies, providing regular meetings and development sessions for the team.
* Competitive hourly rate and hours of work (16+ with some flexibility).
* Successful candidates will be required to undergo a DBS check.
* There will be an initial shadowing and training period to ensure confidence before 1:1 work.
* All staff are classed as self-employed and submit invoices every four weeks. A template can be provided if needed.
* Start date is flexible, including a long shadow period.


Concerning the position

* A six-month probationary period will apply at the outset. Salary is paid monthly. Annual leave is pro rata. A DBS must be processed prior to commencement; costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where eligible.
