Job Title: Waterways Operative

Pay: £12.87 per hour

About the Role:
Manpower is recruiting for a Waterways Operative to support the maintenance and operation of waterways in Devizes. The role involves outdoor, physical work to maintain and improve the waterway infrastructure, assist visitors, and protect the natural and historic environment. You will also support volunteers and respond to reactive maintenance tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out maintenance and repair work to waterway infrastructure to ensure network availability.
2. Operate Trust assets (locks, bridges) safely while providing excellent customer service.
3. Undertake general waterway and waterside maintenance, including towpath improvements and litter removal.
4. Protect the natural and historic environment during all works.
5. Respond to reactive maintenance requests, participating in an on-call rota as required.
6. Work alongside and lead volunteers to deliver high-quality results and maintain volunteer satisfaction.
7. Support asset inspections and report structural issues, damage, or pollution incidents to the Area Operations Manager or Engineers.
8. Complete tasks efficiently to the correct standard and within agreed schedules.
