Are you a firm believer that the best classroom has no walls? We are looking for an inspiring Forest School Practitioner or Outdoor Education Teacher to join a specialised Alternative Provision in Colne.
You will lead a Class 6 SEN group, using the natural environment to re-engage students who struggle in traditional indoor settings. This role is a temp-to-perm transition, providing long-term stability in a unique, therapeutic teaching environment.
The Role
This isn't just "outdoor play" it is Therapeutic Forest School delivery. You will use the Forest School Ethos to support students with SEMH, ASC (Autism), and ADHD.
Key Responsibilities include:
Holistic Development: Using Outdoor Learning to meet EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) objectives focused on confidence and social skills.
Risk Management: Conducting dynamic Benefit-Risk Assessments for outdoor activities (tool use, fire lighting, den building).
Nurture & Wellbeing: Implementing Therapeutic Education techniques to support students with EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties).
Curriculum Integration: Mapping outdoor activities to Key Stage 2/3 literacy and numeracy frameworks to ensure academic progress.
Candidate Requirements
Experience: Previous experience in a Forest School setting, PRU, or Alternative Provision.
Qualifications: Ideally Forest School Level 3 (or working towards it). We welcome Qualified Teachers (QTS) or Unqualified Educators with deep experience in Outdoor Education and SEN.
Skills: Proficiency in Positive Behaviour Management and the ability to maintain engagement in an unstructured environment.
Compliance: An enhanced DBS on the update service is essential.
