Your Role:
As a Ticket Examiner, you'll be a vital member of our onboard and station teams. Your main responsibility is ensuring all customers have valid tickets for their journeys, while creating a positive, safe, and helpful environment. You'll work alongside Conductors, Train Managers, station staff, and Revenue Protection Inspectors to support operations and uphold high service standards.
This is a role that requires adaptability, confidence, and a strong customer first attitude.
What You'll Do:
* Represent GWR as a friendly and professional presence, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring a safe journey
* Sell a wide variety of tickets, offering the most appropriate options for each customer's needs
* Check and validate tickets and railcards on board and at stations
* Support revenue protection activities, particularly during special events
* Issue Penalty Fares where necessary, in line with The Railways (Penalty Fares) Regulations 2018
* Assist customers with journey queries and disruptions, always providing helpful and accurate information
* Help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming train environment as you move through the carriages

Location and Working Hours
* This role is based at Bristol Temple Meads station and involves primarily on train work and assisting at station revenue blocks as required
* shift pattern: 04:45 to 11:30, operating across all 7 days of the week
Additional Information
* You must live within 60 minutes travel time of the depot
* Training is full time (35 hours per week) for three weeks, regardless of part time contract hours

* Starting salary: £13,546 pro rata during probation
* After probation: £15,594 pro rata, plus commission on ticket sales
