Overview

Senior Support Worker (First Response Services) based at Countess of Chester, Chester. The role covers Urgent Care Mental Health First Response Services, including Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams, Liaison Services, Street Triage Services, Liaison and Diversion Services and the Crisis Line.


Responsibilities

* Assist qualified practitioners primarily within the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team and across the wider Urgent Care Mental Health First Response Service.
* Signpost and refer individuals to appropriate services; build strong links with third sector and partner agencies to collaboratively support people in crisis.

* Salary: £27,485 to £30,162 per year

Person Specification – Qualifications

* Essential: NVQ level 3 in Health or Social Care, NVQ 3 Apprenticeship in health or social care or equivalent; evidence of a training programme related to supporting people with mental health; trained in psychosocial interventions or willingness to undertake training.
* Desirable: Honours degree in psychology; advanced IT/keyboard skills; related academic qualifications.


Knowledge & Expertise

* Confidentiality in relation to mental health policy and practice; knowledge of professional development and service improvement in adult mental health; understanding of anti-discriminatory practice; care plans including risk and safety planning; supervision; CPA knowledge; ability to communicate complex information with empathy; ability to assess and analyse options, including phone assessments.
* Desirable: psychosocial approach; knowledge of mental health legislation and policies; ability to use spreadsheets/databases; evidence of publications.


Experience

* Essential: experience in a mental health environment; experience with adults with severe mental health issues; experience of partnership working with service users, carers and other agencies.
* Desirable: experience in crisis settings; experience of working on support lines.

* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check: post is subject to DBS check and costs are deducted from salary; enrolment in DBS Update Service encouraged.
