We're looking for an experienced and proactive Transport Manager to oversee our minibus fleet and broader school transport services. This is a key role within the Campus Team, responsible for ensuring all school transport is well-organised, compliant, safe and responsive to the needs of pupils, parents and staff.
You'll manage a growing team of drivers, oversee vehicle maintenance and scheduling, and ensure transport services operate to the highest standards - from daily school runs to sports trips and external bookings.
About the role
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, you'll take ownership of:
* Planning and managing daily school transport during term time
* Organising routes, schedules and external bookings to ensure a reliable, cost-effective service
* Ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, insured, MOT-tested and regularly maintained
* Managing compliance with transport regulations and school policies
* Line managing the team of Drivers and Car Parking Attendant, including training, licence checks and performance reviews
* Liaising with parents, pupils and staff to ensure excellent customer service and smooth communication
* Responding to issues such as absences or bad weather, sometimes requiring early morning on-call support
* Overseeing the transport budget and working with finance to monitor spend and control costs
* Supporting the wider Campus Team and contributing to car park management, transport policies, and event logistics where needed
You'll bring:
* Proven experience in transport operations, logistics or fleet management
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and problem-solve effectively
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* A working knowledge of transport compliance, health & safety and record keeping
* Competency with fleet management software and Microsoft Office
* Experience managing a team and coordinating rotas, training and compliance
* The ability to work flexibly, including occasional early mornings or weekends
* A D1 driving licence (or willingness to train) is desirable
