We’re looking for a motivated professional to join our client's team and play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the condition of their housing stock across Cambridgeshire. Your new role As our Surveyor – Energy & Stock Condition, you will be responsible for managing inspections, surveys, and quality standards across our housing portfolio, including void properties. You’ll diagnose defects, order repairs, and ensure that all works meet required standards throughout the lifecycle of each project.You’ll also support other surveying areas when needed and help us achieve key performance targets for monitoring and managing property-related works. Key Responsibilities Service Delivery Ensure efficient and effective delivery of services to the Council’s homes and associated properties. Administer and monitor the repair ordering process to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and compliance. Work collaboratively with the principal contractor to deliver responsive repairs. Report urgent works promptly and integrate planned works where appropriate. Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, standing orders, contract and financial regulations. Surveying & Inspections Carry out Stock Condition Surveys, including full surveys and cyclical inspections, to a consistently high standard. Conduct HHSRS surveys and EPC assessments, including for void properties. Perform visual asbestos inspections and update management information accordingly. Undertake periodic inspections and re-inspections for fire safety, asbestos, HHSRS, and other compliance areas. Pre-inspect planned works and survey completed void properties prior to re-let. Engage with tenants to discuss planned works and address any concerns. What you'll need to succeed Qualifications & Education Level 3 qualification in a trade occupation. HNC/HND in Building Studies or equivalent (or working towards). Ideally membership of a relevant professional body (CIOB, RICS, ASCP or equivalent) or working towards. DEA qualification to SAP 10 methodology (C&G6361 or equivalent), or willingness to train and register (ideally with Elmhurst). Knowledge of HHSRS. Experience & Knowledge Experience working within a housing maintenance service. Strong understanding of building maintenance, structures, and energy efficiency. Experience working with tenants, leaseholders, and the general public. Project management and contract supervision experience. Good knowledge of housing law, policies, and compliance requirements. Demonstrable experience working in domestic housing environments. Other Requirements Full driving licence, access to a car, and business insurance. Commitment to ongoing professional development and training. Role subject to DBS checks.
