Job Description
A full‑time, permanent Social Worker position within Haringey Council’s Central Locality Mental Health Team. The role involves Carrying out Care Act assessments, developing care and support plans with service users and carers, undertaking Care Act reviews, safeguarding enquiries and reviewing carers assessments. Responsibilities also include supporting people with functional or organic mental health problems, applying a strengths‑based approach, using motivational interviewing, trauma‑informed care and psychoeducation, providing clear information to enable informed decisions, liaising with primary care, social services, community health and voluntary organisations and championing rights and entitlements.

Salary: £42,771 – £52,194 per annum

About The Role
The successful candidate will carry out Care Act assessments, devise care and support plans with service users and carers, and undertake reviews under the Care Act or equivalent. The role includes safeguarding enquiries, support for people with functional and/or organic mental health problems, application of evidence‑based therapeutic social work practice, and clear communication of information for informed decisions. Close liaison with primary care, social services, community health, and voluntary organisations, and the provision of guidance on Care Act and relevant legislation are also central. The role will support the team in applying the Care Act, preparing referrals, reports and community resource access, and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to best use the social care budget. Willingness to train as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) and/or Best Interest Assessor (BIA) is required.
About You
Based within the Central Locality Mental Health Team, you will provide Care Act assessment support through commissioned accommodation‑based services, demonstrate confidence in social care legislation and community resources, and possess a confident approach to health and social care record systems. All social workers in mental health teams must be willing to train as AMHPs, with support provided as part of the career development plan. You will seek strong partnership with local NHS trust partners, receive high quality supervision, advanced training and opportunities to make a real difference to people in Haringey.
