We’re working with a well-funded tech business in Newcastle that’s looking to hire a QA Automation Engineer to automate their award-winning web platform. This is a newly created role supported by leadership, with a budget approved as part of a long-term move towards full automation.
You’ll join an established QA team, working closely with the QA Lead to automate the rewards platform using Playwright. Since the team currently lacks Playwright experience, part of your role will involve helping to develop this skill within the team over the next 12–18 months, giving you a chance to influence organizational growth.
You’ll receive training and a clear onboarding plan, developed collaboratively with you. This role is specifically focused on driving Playwright automation, and you will eventually coach and mentor the wider QA team as they upskill.
Current team setup includes:
* A QA Lead to collaborate with on automation initiatives
* A roadmap for team upskilling over the next 12 months
* A forward-thinking technical leadership and an open-minded team seeking guidance from experienced QA professionals
What you’ll bring:
* At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Playwright
* Ability to coach and mentor in a collaborative environment
* Strong communication skills and a passion for building scalable, reliable automation
* A strategic mindset and interest in shaping QA processes
Working arrangements include:
* Based in Newcastle with 2-3 days in the office weekly, hybrid working for the remaining days
* Projects for major household names, including global tech brands
