The role: The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow is recruiting a Pharmacy Support Worker – Higher Level Aseptic Operator to support the aseptic preparation of injectable medicines (including parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy and clinical trials), supervise routine aseptic unit duties, and ensure all products meet GMP and quality standards to deliver safe and effective patient care. PVG Scheme membership (Disclosure Scotland) is required for roles involving regulated work with vulnerable groups Duration, Location, and Working Pattern: Location based in Royal Hospital for Children Full-time (37 hours per week) and part-time (29.6 hours per week) positions available The shift pattern for both posts will be worked over 5 days out of 7 Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours. Key responsibilities: To be responsible for aseptic preparation of products for individual patient doses where there are further checks or automation of the process i.e. OPAT Pump. To be responsible for aseptic preparation of section 10. Ensure all aseptic preparation is undertaken in accordance with the principles of GMP, QA, Quality Control (QC), Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Health & Safety (H&S) directives, National and departmental standard operating procedures. To ensure appropriate packaging for delivery and maintenance of cold chain systems. To complete relevant validations regularly and to ensure compliance with validation schedule. To participate in clinical governance activities, e.g. audit, collation of documentation and presentation of appropriate workload statistics. Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job: General education with basic numeracy and literacy skills, demonstrated by 3 Standard Grade Qualifications (or equivalent), including English and Maths (essential). An SVQ Pharmacy Level 2 or equivalent is not essential, but a willingness to work towards this qualification is required. Previous pharmacy experience is preferred.
