A school-based occupational therapy opportunity is available in Cambridge, MA, offering a contract position focused on supporting students developmental and functional needs. This role involves working primarily within a school setting to help children enhance their motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities, enabling them to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing occupational therapy services during the Extended School Year (ESY) program from July 8 to August 9.
* Delivering therapy sessions on Wednesday mornings, with the potential for extending services to three days per week during the 2024-2025 school year.
* Collaborating with educators, parents, and support staff to develop and implement individualized intervention plans.
* Conducting assessments, documenting progress, and adapting therapeutic approaches based on student needs.
* Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to support holistic student development.
Qualifications and experience desired:
* Valid and current Occupational Therapy license.
* Experience working in a school environment with children, preferably within a public school system.
* Strong knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy techniques and school-based practice.
* Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and educational staff.
* Flexibility to accommodate varying schedules and potential changes in service days.
