The role:
We are recruiting enthusiastic Pharmacy Support Workers to join our pharmacy teams at two major specialist centres in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
1. Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre: Support aseptic services for systemic anticancer therapy (SACT) and other injectable medicines, working in a highly controlled environment to maintain patient safety and service efficiency.
2. Royal Hospital for Children: Contribute to the safe and effective supply of medicines for paediatric patients, including support for aseptic preparation of parenteral nutrition and specialist injectables.
Both roles are integral to multidisciplinary teams delivering highquality care across inpatient, outpatient and daycase settings.
PVG Scheme membership (Disclosure Scotland) is required for roles involving regulated work with vulnerable groups
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
3. Location based in Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and Royal Hospital for Children
4. The shift pattern are 37 hours per week
5. Full-time position
Key responsibilities:
6. Assemble trays and prepare items for aseptic production following SOPs.
7. Perform accuracy checks (CEL 30 authorised tasks) on assembled items.
8. Support environmental monitoring and stock control.
9. Undertake routine cleaning and maintenance in controlled areas.
10. Dispense and label medicines clinically screened by pharmacists.
11. Liaise with pharmacy technicians and pharmacists to ensure timely supply.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential:
12. SVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent experience.
13. Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
14. Good communication and teamworking skills.
15. Basic IT skills for stock and documentation tasks.
Desirable:
16. Previous experience in pharmacy or healthcare environment.
17. Knowledge of aseptic techniques and medicines handling.
