Assistant SEND Manager – Start Date 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible
The Deputy Leadership team at Ashton on Mersey School is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant SEND Manager. The role is a senior support position that will take a strategic and hands‑on approach to improving SEND and CLA provision across the school.
Responsibilities
* Provide line management for Higher‑Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) and Teaching Assistants (TAs) and ensure effective deployment across departments and key stages.
* Oversee day‑to‑day practice, contribute to performance management and support professional development for the support staff team.
* Work closely with the SENDCo, curriculum leaders, pastoral teams, external agencies and parents/carers to implement, monitor and evaluate SEND and CLA provision.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to promote inclusive practice and improve student progress, engagement, and wellbeing.
* Contribute to whole‑school planning, improvement and development initiatives, particularly those that impact SEND and CLA outcomes.

* High expectations and ability to lead by example, adaptable, resilient and thriving in a fast‑paced environment.
* Excellent organisational, time‑management and communication skills with a strong understanding of child development, SEND and education practices.
* Leadership capability and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Empathy, sensitivity to individual needs, and confidence using data and ICT to support learning and improvement.
* Secure knowledge of relevant policies, curriculum and legislation, and commitment to continuous professional development.
