Job summary
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for those at Core (ST1-ST3) or Higher (ST4-ST5/ST6+) levels. Posts may be 100% clinical or 80% clinical with 20% interest in area development. The positions are available from 06 August 2025 until 03 February 2026, with possible extension by mutual agreement.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicants will be integrated as Trainees within the Emergency Department, assigned an Educational Supervisor, and eligible to attend the monthly departmental teaching program. Experience gained may contribute towards future training applications via the CESR-CP pathway. Applicants must meet the essential criteria outlined in the Person Specification section of the job description for their respective grade. Please note these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean's approval or formal training recognition. Full GMC registration and a Licence to Practice are required.

The applicant should demonstrate effective communication skills in English, as per GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must have IELTS/OET certification before obtaining a GMC licence. Applications requiring UK skilled worker sponsorship are welcome and will be considered equally. Additional requirements include a criminal record certificate from each country of residence for 12 months or more in the past 10 years, applicable to adult dependants as well. Job responsibilities
The ED at Cambridge University Hospitals is the largest in the region, serving over 130,000 patients annually. It functions as the Major Trauma Centre for the East of England, covering a broad geographical area and 12 district hospitals. The department provides access to all hospital specialties and investigative facilities, including Ultrasound. There is extended supervision and training with Consultant presence from 08:00 to 03:00, and 24/7 trainee presence.
