Job Overview

The role is to support the Senior Business Accountants within Unplanned Care in the provision of high quality accurate financial information. Provide analysis and advice to managers within the Trust in the most timely and effective manner, and co‑ordinate the production of monthly financial information to facilitate the production of monthly financial reports.


Responsibilities

* Support the Business Accountant in providing financial information, analysis and advice to budget holders.
* Support the production of monthly financial management information, completing variance analysis and forecasting.
* Attend regular meetings with budget holders; assist in the budget setting process and reporting systems that enable an effective financial management service to Unplanned Care.

Person Specification

Qualifications

* CCAB or CIMA Post Graduate Diploma Level or equivalent experience.

Experience

* Minimum 3 years financial management experience of which 2 years should be in management accounts.
* Experience of staff management.
* Desirable: Experience of NHS Finance.

Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies

* Good knowledge of the main aspects of NHS Finance, particularly those relevant to financial management.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent analytical and reasoning skills.
* Planning, monitoring and reasoning skills.
* Ability to lead change and have a positive influence on others.
* Ability to be both team leader and team player.
* Ability to work without supervision and to deliver to deadlines.
* Evidence of past achievements and ability to deliver.
* Proficient in use of current computer software e.g. Microsoft Office.
* Knowledge of computerised ledger, budgeting systems and coding structures.

Physical Skills

* Significant computer use, switching tasks at short notice and unpredictable workload.

Mental Effort

* Frequent requirement for concentration when inputting data, checking and reconciling information, making calculations and when answering queries from staff, managers and clinicians.
