Overview

At Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), Nursing Assistants contribute to essential patient care with empathy, dignity and respect. You’ll join a dedicated team in Diabetic and Endocrine Medicine, working on Doyle and Wilson, with supervision by Registered Nurses and clear Trust guidelines.

Joining an innovative Trust that integrates health, teaching, and research, you’ll support a digitally enabled organisation and a growing community of clinicians and academic staff in the heart of Manchester.

Responsibilities

* Support patients with personal care needs, including mobilising, toileting, eating and drinking.
* Assist clinics and perform observations, ECGs and venepuncture as part of the patient group.
* Follow on-the-job training to undertake delegated clinical duties and monitor changes in patient conditions.

Training and progression

* On joining MFT, you’ll have access to on-the-job training and the Support Worker Development Programme for Nursing Assistants, with progression opportunities including completion of the Care Certificate for candidates who have not completed it previously.
* Experienced Nursing Assistants will undertake a skills analysis at start to identify gaps. Where needed, you’ll access clinical skills modules to support progression to a Band 3 post on completion.
* Evidence of prior learning will be reviewed and considered.

Role structure and development

If you’re new to healthcare, you’ll be supported to develop knowledge and skills through our development programme. If you’re an experienced Nursing Assistant, you’ll be assessed on entry to determine appropriate progression pathways and access relevant modules.
