Job Description:
Responsibilities:
* Support GD Fundraising and Field Operations teams with funding bids by engaging with research partners and project funders, and assist in developing project monitoring and evaluation plans, including indicator selection, sampling techniques, and evaluation design.
* Design quantitative surveys and qualitative interview guides in collaboration with data and country teams; perform cognitive testing and piloting of data collection instruments.
* Collaborate with Field Operations to develop and support ongoing monitoring and evaluation, and initiate evaluations of non-experimental GD projects.
* Perform data quality checks for internal research and project evaluations.
* Conduct primary data analysis for internal and externally funded non-RCT projects, providing statistical and analytical support to Field Operations teams.
* Write high-quality reports and review reports critically for internal and external stakeholders.
* Conduct literature reviews as needed and stay updated on relevant research findings.
* Assist the Research Manager in maintaining and updating GD’s research knowledge databases.
* Undertake administrative duties related to GD’s research projects, including participating in meetings, organizing research sessions, coordinating dissemination of reports, and maintaining research documents.
Core competencies and experiences:
o Master’s degree in Economics with coursework in econometrics, impact evaluation, and economic development.
o At least 3 years of research and development experience, preferably in countries where GiveDirectly operates.
o Strong understanding of economic development and poverty reduction drivers.
o Experience with quantitative research methods and software tools (R, Stata, SurveyCTO). Experience with experimental/quasi-experimental designs (e.g., RCT, RDD, PSM) is advantageous.
o Experience in qualitative research, including design, interviews, focus groups, and analysis; ability to integrate qualitative and quantitative data is a plus.
o Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences, both verbal and written.
o Research stakeholder management skills, including designing evaluations, risk prediction, and timely delivery.
o Project management experience, including risk management and stakeholder communication.
o Ability to synthesize literature and summarize complex research into clear key points.
o Alignment with core competencies: emotional intelligence, problem-solving, project management, follow-through, and inclusivity. Experience with low-income or marginalized communities is encouraged.
Compensation:
GiveDirectly offers a competitive salary and benefits, aligning with market standards. The US salary is $81,400; UK salary is £55,600; Kenya salary is $48,000. The role is fully remote, and salary estimates for other countries will be provided during hiring. We emphasize equitable pay and have a no-negotiation policy.
