Senior Physiotherapist - Neurosciences and Cancer Care
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced physiotherapist to join our Neurosciences and Cancer Care Team supporting inpatients recovering from a variety of neurological conditions. The post will suit individuals who have completed their core rotations (on a Band 5 Physiotherapist rotation programme) or already have experience at Band 6 and are looking to develop specialist skills working within Neurosciences.
Working within Neurosciences will provide you with an opportunity to work alongside not only an experienced and dedicated Physiotherapy Team but also an experienced Multidisciplinary Team that focuses on early assessment, rehabilitation and timely discharge of patients that have sustained a stroke or neurological conditions such as MS/Traumatic Brain Injury/Peripheral Nerve Injuries. You will be supported by highly specialist senior staff and will have the opportunity to develop both your clinical and leadership skills working with junior staff, physiotherapy support workers and students. Continuous Professional Development is actively supported through an established appraisal system, in‑service training and post graduate library facilities.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to:
- work on our inpatient wards with our experienced and dedicated team of registered and unregistered therapists supporting patients during recovery from acute illness.
- be an active part of the wider multi‑disciplinary team and will have the opportunity to develop new skills with access to training and professional development.
- undertake a variety of non‑clinical and clinical tasks to support the delivery of physiotherapy services to our Neurosciences patients.
- be required to assess, prioritise and manage your own caseload of hyper‑acute and acute stroke patients and patients with other Neurological conditions, determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated, and maintain records as a legally autonomous practitioner. Patient presentation may be complex/highly complex.
- be responsible for training, supervising and monitoring other physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistant practitioners, assistants and, with support, to performance manage students.
- provide clinical leadership within the speciality including educational, professional and managerial guidance and have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service provided to patients within and out‑reaching from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be required to participate in the extended day/7‑day rotas, in line with service needs.

Experience
- Significant postgraduate experience as a Physiotherapist in a post with broad‑based rotational opportunities. Candidates should have experience in all core areas, however those offering less experience, but meeting all other criteria, will be considered on their merit.
- Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and multidisciplinary team
- Student or physiotherapy assistant direct supervision
- Involvement in service improvement, audit, research and understanding quality issues
