GVA Search is proud to be partnering exclusively with a rapidly growing and family-owned food manufacturing business in London, who is looking to recruit a Grocery Finance Business Partner.
This role will focus on the Grocery channel of the business, working closely with the Grocery side of the business, supporting both the Food and Marketing teams across all channels, as well as providing ad hoc support across all areas of the business. The Grocery channel has experienced significant growth, and with strong partnerships with leading retailers and customer loyalty to the brand, this growth is expected to continue as the business expands its reach.
The ideal candidate should work with a high level of accuracy with large datasets and adapt quickly to finance systems. The role requires strategic thinking, detailed commercial analysis, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders.
Role Responsibilities Include:
1. Ownership and control of the entire Grocery P&L, including all financials from Gross Sales to EBITDA, such as promotional funding, trade discounts, consumer spend, shopper marketing, and personnel costs. Oversee logistics costs, including route to market and third-party hauliers within the Grocery BU.
2. Sign off on the monthly Grocery P&L closing, managing the management accountant and invoicing team on Grocery-specific items like accruals, prepayments, retailer invoicing, debit notes, promo accruals, and complaints.
3. Produce weekly and monthly KPI reports on key business drivers, including sales trends, product mix, gross margins, service levels, and promotional effectiveness, with variance analysis.
4. Contribute to the forecasting and planning cycle, owning the annual budget setting and target establishment.
5. Support strategic 5-year planning for the grocery business unit.
6. Approve and control all external spend, and advise on negotiations and terms for Joint Business Plans with retailers.
7. Ensure financial governance of the S&OP process, owning the M4 and Business Unit Review, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of inputs, and presenting performance data to executives and the board.
8. Play a key role in the Finance leadership team by driving capabilities, process improvements, and team development.
9. Lead critical elements of finance transformation, including process simplification and automation.
Key Experience Required:
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent with post-qualification experience. Relevant experience in commercial business partnering, preferably within FMCG, Grocery, or multi-site environments, is essential.
This role suits an ambitious, driven individual with excellent communication skills, comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and capable of challenging key business decisions. Prior experience with NAV, BI, and advanced MS Excel skills, including financial modeling and working with large datasets, is highly desirable.
