Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a full‑time Band 5 Clinical Audit Officer in the Gastroenterology and Screening Directorate. The role involves supporting senior management and clinical leads to undertake audits, ensure compliance with JAG (Endoscopy) accreditation and Screening SQAS, and contribute to the Trust’s clinical audit and effectiveness programme. The post holder will operate at both Brighton and Hayward's Heath, although based at RSCH.

Main Duties
* Undertake and ensure completion of clinical audit projects in collaboration with the operational project lead.
* Develop specialty‑wide project plans comparing current practice with evidence‑based best practice, including NICE guidelines, technology appraisals, and international procedures.
* Administer the audit programme required for national bodies such as SQAS and JAG, ensuring accurate data collection and timely submission.
* Encourage patient involvement in clinical audit and identify opportunities for consumer participation.
* Maintain relationships with representatives of other Trust departments to stay abreast of national audit and governance initiatives and report relevant developments.
* Support the Endoscopy Lead to meet departmental audit strategies.
* Assist Clinical Managers with necessary clinical reviews.
* Utilise outcomes data to improve service provision.
* Demonstrate knowledge of wider clinical governance issues.
* Attend specialty and governance meetings as appropriate.
* Support Governance Lead during departmental Quality and Gastroenterology Governance meetings.

Essential Criteria
* Education to A Level or equivalent knowledge and experience.
* Experience working with complex data.
* Experience in undertaking audits.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Desirable Criteria
* Knowledge of SQAS and JAG.
* Project Management qualification.
