Join our Planning, Licensing & Building Control team within the Growth & Development directorate at the Council. As a Principal General Building Control Inspector, you will lead and deliver complex and specialist building control services across a significant area of responsibility. This role is crucial in providing expert technical consultancy, overseeing major projects, and contributing to strategic and operational objectives.
Responsibilities
* Act as a subject matter expert in building control, delivering innovative and compliant technical solutions.
* Lead the design and implementation of frameworks that support effective service delivery.
* Manage and deliver complex work packages to meet legal, strategic, and customer requirements.
* Support the development and review of organisational strategies and ensure performance targets are met.
* Provide operational and strategic input into regulatory inspections and governance processes.
* Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships through effective negotiation and communication.
* Commission work packages internally and externally to ensure comprehensive decision-making.
* Promote and embody the Council’s “Our People” approach.
* Manage assigned resources, including staff, budgets, and other assets, to ensure continuous improvement.
* Participate in rota-based working, including out-of-hours duties as required.
