Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
* Practice at an expert level, acting as a knowledgeable resource to the patient group.
* Holistically assess and identify health and psychosocial needs of individual patients, and plan programmes of care to meet these needs, in partnership with patients/carers and colleagues.
* Communicate with patients in ways that empower them to make informed choices about their health and health care. Act as advocate for individual patients and the client group.
* Challenge professional and organisational boundaries in the interest of patients and clients and to improve health outcomes.
* Contribute to the education/training opportunities for nursing and other learners at pre and post qualification levels through classroom teaching and clinical placements.
* Participate in relevant research, evaluations and audits and act on this information in collaboration with colleagues to continually develop the service.
* Post registration experience within specialist area and knowledge of current issues within the acute health service is essential.
* The candidate must be confident to work under pressure and demonstrate good leadership and organisational skills.
* Service runs Monday to Friday core working hours.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
* Registered nurse on the relevant part of the NMC register.
* Degree qualification, 120 credits at L6 or equivalent evidence of specialist training, experience or portfolio.
* Significant post registration experience / qualification / training within relevant speciality.
* Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies.
* Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice or equivalent evidence, demonstrating support to a range of learners in practice and to promote effective learning in practice.
* Knowledge of current issues within the acute health service.
* Understanding of personal accountability.
* Extensive post registration experience within specialist area.
Desirable criteria
* Change Management, clinical practice development.
* Multidisciplinary team working.
