ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an enthusiastic subject specialist to join our committed PE Department, for a 1 year Fixed-term contract (01/09/26-31/08/27). The successful candidate will motivate, challenge, support and inspire our students. They must also have relevant experience in a similar role with a proven track record.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
2. To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/tutor.
3. To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to accelerate with their learning.
4. To contribute to raising standards of student attainment across the school.
5. To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
TEACHING, LEARNING AND STUDENT PROGRESS
6. To undertake a designated programme of planning and teaching across all key stages (KS3, 4 and 5) and to teach consistently high-quality lessons.
7. To be a role model for students, inspiring them to be actively interested in your subject.
8. To ensure the effective/efficient deployment of classroom support.
9. To maintain discipline in accordance with the school procedures, and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and home learning.
10. To lead, monitor and evaluate the assessment and feedback to students in line with whole school and department policy.
11. To follow department monitoring and tracking systems relating to student’s attainment, progress and achievement.
12. To mark, grade and give written/verbal and diagnostic feedback as required.
13. To undertake assessment of students as requested by external examination bodies, curriculum areas and school procedures.
14. To assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records as are required.
15. To update professional knowledge and expertise as appropriate to keep up to date with developments in teaching practice and methodology.
16. To liaise with the relevant pastoral leaders to ensure the implementation of the Student Support system.
17. To prioritise and manage time effectively, ensuring continued professional development in line with the role.
18. To follow the school policies and procedures.

Safeguarding Statement
Holmleigh Park High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in line with the DfE guidelines “Safeguarding Children: Safer Recruitment and Selection in Education Settings”. The school will adhere to the following guidelines:
1.All new staff will be subject to a criminal background check through the Disclosure & Barring Service. This will be an enhanced check for those whose duties include caring for, training or supervising children.
2.All posts at Holmleigh Park High School require an acceptance of the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. 3.The selection procedure for all posts will include a consideration of the applicant’s suitability to work with children as well as the post.
4.All applicants must submit a signed application form. This is taken as verification that all statements are true and that the applicant is not in any way disqualified from working with children eg on List 99.
5.Posts at Holmleigh Park High School are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act of 1974, and if necessary a declaration must be made on the application form.
6.The school will seek references on all short listed candidates prior to interview, and may approach previous employers for information to verify experience or qualifications prior to interviews.
7.Referees should be someone who has had a working or professional relationship with the candidate, and should not be a friend or relative. 8.Referees will be asked about disciplinary offences relating to children including any in which the penalty is time expired, and whether the applicant has been the subject of any child protection concerns and the outcome of that procedure.
