Practice Manager – Maternity Cover
Temporary 13‑month role covering maternity leave at Bewick Road Surgery, Gateshead. Start date as soon as possible, before end of August 2026. Closing date 15 June 2026.
Key responsibilities
* Oversee day‑to‑day running of the practice and maintain performance of the team.
* Provide positive leadership, HR, strategic planning, and finance management.
* Work with GP Partners to inform decisions and maintain partnership ethos.
* Promote highest standards of patient care while ensuring financial sustainability.
* Maintain compliance with NHS England contractual obligations, Health and Safety, employment legislation and CQC regulations.
* Adapt practice to evolving healthcare system demands.
Qualifications
* A levels or equivalent (essential).
* Qualification in Business Management (desirable).
Essential experience
* Working with the general public.
* Experience as a Practice Manager within primary care.
* Handling patient complaints.
* Team leadership and management.
* Driving or delivering change in a business setting.
* Human resources functions: appraisals, disciplinary/grievance hearings, performance management, sickness management, staff training and development.
* Health and safety management including risk assessments, accident reporting, GDPR.
Desirable experience
* Experience of a CQC inspection in primary care.
* Experience using EMIS Web.
