JOB OVERVIEW
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health practitioner who holds a qualification in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to be part of the Children's and Young People's Mental Health Support Teams across the Black Country.
Main duties of the job
The mental health support team (MHST) has the opportunity to further develop work within the field of young people's mental health and wellbeing and provides CBT, guided self‑help, parenting, with a focus on development of whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing and the development of the think family approaches within the schools environment.
Job responsibilities
* Effective triaging of referrals across the Black Country.
* Provide specialist assessments of children and young people referred to the service.
* Develop, implement and review a range of evidence‑based treatment plans informed by clinical assessment and the specific needs of the individual within their wider social context.
* Provide clinical supervision, leadership to the assigned MHST and staff from all locality teams where appropriate.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of CPD programmes for staff.
* Working with MHST Team Leads to ensure delivery of the MHST action plan, highlight risk and plan mitigation, escalating where necessary.
* Reviewing the referral pathways, ensuring they are informed and being effectively utilised.
* Lead on developing relationships with other services that support CYP.
* Working closely with other professionals in schools, developing referral pathways and planning engagement with the schools.
* Contribute and support strategic planning, ensuring the needs of children, young people, their parents/carers and schools is informing the development of the service.
Person Specification
* Core profession (HCPC, Social Care, Nursing or recognised degree level or broad based health and social care qualification requiring completion of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Knowledge Skills and attributes).
* Post graduate (Masters and above) level study.
* Experience of specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people with mental health problems.
* Experience of working with a wide variety of child mental health problems, across the whole age range, reflecting all levels of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal and physical abuse.
* Holds a CBT supervision qualification and can supervise high and low intensity practitioners or be prepared to achieve this within one year of coming into post.
* Able to travel across the Black Country with ease.
* High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised therapies/interventions.
