Quality Engineer Role
You're a Quality Engineer, so you already know that it's not about ticking boxes. It's about understanding why things are done the way they are. It's about questioning assumptions, noticing the detail others miss, knowing what matters… and making sure the job gets done properly.
This role is for someone who can work independently but also be part of a small team in an evolving organization. The kind of place where people are working hard to improve systems, raise standards, and strengthen operations. Not perfect, but heading in the right direction and looking for someone who can help shape what 'better' looks like.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation from a mechanical or manufacturing background, ideally in metals. Someone who can get stuck in from day one and be effective. You'll sit between the Quality Manager and Senior Quality Inspector, no direct reports, but plenty of influence.
Your view as a Quality Engineer is that standards exist because they reflect best engineering practice not just to tick a box. You'll ask the right questions, review certs and drawings, talk to goods-in, work with suppliers, and check the detail. You'll also be the steady hand when things aren't quite right leading non-conformance investigations and helping the resolve issues across sites.
This isn't about process for the sake of it. As a Quality Engineer, your main focus is on ensuring quality rather than following procedure. You'll need to bring:
* A strong mechanical or engineering background
* In-depth knowledge of inspection, metrology, and materials
* Confidence with hand tools, gauges, and part inspection strategies
* A solid grasp of technical drawings
* Experience working with ISO /45001 (a bonus)
* Familiarity with MRP systems
* Exposure to DNV, Lloyds, or similar certification standards
* A practical, sleeves-up mindset – you deliver your own work, but help others along the way
