We're delighted to be partnered with a fantastic client of ours who's on the lookout for an experienced Category Manager to take ownership of a high‑value Logistics category covering both road and rail transport. This is a role within a long‑standing, supportive and fun procurement function where category management is truly embedded.

As Category Manager, you will lead the strategy, performance and commercial management of a multi-million spend category. You'll manage supplier relationships, drive innovation, deliver value and ensure robust contract performance across a diverse logistics network.
This position suits someone confident operating with senior stakeholders, comfortable visiting operational sites, and adept at navigating both commercial and technical logistics environments.
Key Responsibilities
Own end‑to‑end category strategy for road & rail logistics
Manage supplier relationships, performance and contract reviews
Lead commercial negotiations and drive long‑term value creation
Ensure compliance and continuous improvement across the supply base
Work closely with cross‑functional teams and senior stakeholders
Support sustainability, innovation and operational optimisation initiativesMust‑Have Experience
Strong Category Management or strategic procurement experience
Proven background in Logistics, ideally covering both road and rail
Experience managing specialist fleet and asset-driven logistics, with awareness of how different transport configurations operate commercially and operationally
Understanding of multi‑modal freight, including contract frameworks, operational processes and industry terminology
Experience managing large, complex spend portfolios
Confident running supplier performance reviews and commercial meetings
Ability to work across multiple sites (office, depots, suppliers)Ideal Backgrounds
