Consultant Neurologist with interest in Epilepsy

The Neurology Department at University Hospitals Sussex is undergoing an exciting period of development, following the relocation of the neuroscience departments to a new purpose‑built centre at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and personable neurology consultant to work between the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, and either the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath site, or the Worthing Hospital site. The postholder will undertake both general neurology and specialist epilepsy clinics.
Main duties of the job
* General neurology outpatient clinics
* Epilepsy outpatient clinics
* Epilepsy MDTs
* Neuroradiology meeting
* Supervision of junior doctors in relation to neurological care and participation in teaching and educational activity within the Trust as required
* Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital Ward Referrals
* Triage and Advice and Guidance
* Sussex Neurology on‑call rota (see below)
* Consultant of the Week (see below)
This work will be supported by a medical secretary and an appropriate office space and IT.
On Call Commitment
Additional remuneration for On Call 1 in 10 (non‑resident), Category B, 1%.
Person Specification
Experience / Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
* UK CCT in Neurology (or equivalent and in process of obtaining specialist registration via Portfolio Pathway)
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
* Higher Degree
Clinical Skills and Experience
* Experience in specialist MS/neuroinflammatory clinics
* Experience in General Neurology
Knowledge
* Breadth of experience in and outside specialty
Organisation and Planning
* Experience and ability to work in multi‑professional teams
* Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
* Evidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended
Teaching Skills
* Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching
* Recognised teaching qualification
Academic and Research
* Evidence of participation in audit
* Research experience
* Publications
* Prizes and honours
* Appropriate progression of career to date
Personal Attributes
