Electronic Hardware Engineer Sheffield Up to £60,000 | Career Growth Opportunity About the Role: As a Hardware Engineer define, design, create and maintain electronic systems and products, including wired/wireless detectors, panels and other peripherals. This encompasses existing legacy and next generation designs. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop electronic hardware for our range of next generation wired/wireless products To work as part of a team on complex electronics/software projects, being a key member and driving force in the detailed design of the products To carry out product/system interference investigations to make sure the products meet the relevant standards and approvals requirements To ensure products do not infringe on any existing patents, trademarks, registered designs, copyrights or other intelligent property rights To support with the design and documentation of production test solutions (hardware and/or software) for new and existing products, manufactured in the UK or other global manufacturing facilities To maintain department documentation and carry out documented design reviews and verification testing Any other duties as requested by the Hardware and Test Engineering Manager Essential Requirements A relevant hardware qualification (Degree or above preferred) Hardware development experience (3 years minimum, more than 3 completed projects) Design for high volume manufacturing (DFM) Experience in a range of technologies including digital, analogue and low power electronics (e.g. battery operated) Experience in radio frequency circuit design (sub 1GHz) Familiarity with CAD packaged for schematic capture and PCB artwork design Strong problem-solving skills and good knowledge on product design technologies Experience with measurement and hardware interface/communication protocols GPIB (IEEE488), serial RS232, RS485 and RS422, Ethernet, PXI, SPI, USB Experience writing design documentation and verification test reports Environmental and EMC testing Ability to work well under pressure Good communication skills Desirable Requirements Knowledge of PTC Windchill software Cadance/ORCAD software experience Embedded software Knowledge of revision control systems (GIT, Subversion) Experience with test and instrumentation software such as C# and Python
