Job Summary
The role of a Field Services Engineer is to diagnose and repair technical issues on various IT equipment including PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, peripherals, and point of sale systems at customer locations around Essex. The engineer will also provide IT hardware support, installations, moves, and changes across client sites.
Salary and Benefits
Base salary ranges from £27,000 to £29,000 depending on experience. Benefits include a company car, fuel card, and OOH allowances of £44/night on call or £308 per week plus overtime if called out at 1.5 times the rate.
Key Responsibilities
1. Travel to various customer sites to deliver IT support services as per contractual requirements.
2. Support a range of IT equipment including PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, peripherals, and POS systems.
3. Perform on-site installations and troubleshooting of hardware and software products.
4. Obtain and maintain vendor certifications required by CDW.
5. Follow documented procedures and contribute feedback for improvements.
6. Adhere to safety and ESD precautions.
7. Complete documentation and provide quality updates after each site visit.
8. Participate in on-call rotations, including mornings, evenings, and weekends (with allowances).
9. Support wider teams within the Integrated Technology Solutions department.
10. Work overtime as needed to meet client requirements, with overtime rates applying.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
1. Experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware devices including PCs, laptops, tablets, and printers.
2. Ability to install and configure software per customer specifications.
3. Current vendor certifications such as Dell, Lenovo, IBM, and HP.
4. Good understanding of hardware maintenance and break-fix procedures.
5. Full UK driving license.
6. Ability to obtain UK security clearances (SC, NPPV3) as required.
7. Attention to detail and quality focus.
8. Ability to work independently and remotely.
9. Methodical approach with a right-first-time mindset.
10. Proactive, professional attitude with strong initiative and team collaboration skills.
11. Results-driven with a history of achieving goals.
12. Physical ability to carry IT equipment and work in tight or awkward spaces.
