Job Overview
We are appointing a Locally Employed Doctor to work within the North Mersey Stroke Centre at Aintree Hospital, Liverpool. The role supports hyper‑acute stroke care and rehabilitation for approximately 1,500 admissions a year, providing 24/7 thrombolysis and a 7‑day rapid assessment service for TIAs.
Contract and Salary
Fixed term: 40 weeks (Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm, plus on‑call rota in the week and weekend 1:6 rotation). Full time – 40 hours per week. Salary: £52,656 per annum. Job reference: 287-AMED-353-25. Closing date: 29/12/2025 23:59.
Main Duties
* Work alongside consultants, ANPs and junior doctors to support inpatient and outpatient care across DMOPS.
* Rotate with other Stroke and Rehabilitation Team doctors (StR’s) across the care group, gaining access to all ward areas.
* Participate in ward rounds, patient clinics and multidisciplinary meetings for discharge planning.
* Engage in research and training opportunities available.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB ChB (or equivalent)
* MRCP Part 1 and Part 2 (written)
Registration
* Full registration with the GMC and licence to practice (or eligible for)
Clinical Experience
* Internal Medicine / Clinical Medicine training experience equivalent to at least 2 years post foundation training in Internal Medicine specialties.
Teaching & Training Experience
* Evidence of teaching experience and feedback.
Knowledge
* Certified provider of Advanced Life Support (RCUK ALS)
* Good understanding of ‘Good Medical Practice’ from the GMC.
Audit / QI Experience
* Experience/participation in audit/QI projects.
Desirable Criteria
* MRCP UK PACES
* Additional GIM experience
* Additional Stroke/Neurology/Geriatric medicine related experience
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Qualification in medical education / medical education
* IMPACT course
* Awareness of research principles
Other Requirements
* Applicants must live in the UK and be MRCP Part 2 (written).
* Right to work in the UK is required; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
* Combining MBCH and MRCP Part 1 & 2 constitutes the full medical qualification and general medical training for admission to this life‑sustaining role.
