The role:
Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! It takes a great deal of people from different backgrounds, with diverse skills and experience to serve our force area effectively. This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Finance Department as a Finance Advisor.
This position is ideal for individuals seeking to advance their finance careers while gaining valuable experience within a large organisation. The role offers exposure to areas such as Accounts Payable/Receivable, VAT, and Finance Systems, equipping you with essential knowledge and tools for future progression into fields such as Finance Performance, Corporate Finance, and Governance.
What you'll do:
* Support the Accounts Payable and Receivable functions, including Invoice query management, dealing directly with Suppliers to ensure payments are made in line with contract payment terms, putting in place payment terms with our customers and following up with debt procedures.
* Support VAT reporting, Bank reconciliation and income allocation processes.
* Support internal reviews on finance processes and provide recommendations for improvements, helping to drive efficiencies.
* Support the finance systems maintenance and work on system development projects.
* Support the internal control processes and provide financial information to both external and internal auditors.
What you'll bring:
* You must have or be working towards obtaining your AAT level 4, accounting qualification or equivalent and be able to demonstrate experience of working in a busy finance function.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* An ability to work using your own initiative in an innovative and proactive manner.
* Strong problem-solving skills where required.
* Strong attention to detail and high personal and professional standards.
* Experience of operating to strict deadlines.
* Good understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
