Role Description
This is a work experience opportunity. We Love Peterborough is looking to collaborate with local Peterborough students who would like to gain some experience in their field of study. This work opportunity will enable you to practice your skills with We Love Peterborough in a variety of content creation areas at your own pace either as a one-off or longer experience.
The role will contribute to the creation of our existing content like; attending a local event followed by the production of a blog post about it, adding an online article to our main feature project; ‘Meet The Owner’ which involves speaking with local business owners. There may also be occasions for VIP/celebrity interviews for touring shows at theatres. You wont be left on your own, it will shadowing our main member of the team.
Responsibilities can include conducting research, doing local interviews within Peterborough and its surrounding areas, making suggestions for something new that youd like to do. You will need to work to a deadline to ensure timely delivery of materials ready for editing.
The role requires highlighting positive aspects of the community and sharing engaging stories that connect with the audience.
You will work remotely, but are required to live in the Peterborough area in order to attend events, do visits and interviews.
Qualifications
* Strong yet friendly writing skills for content creation
* Research skills to successfully gather factual and relevant information for articles
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while collaborating remotely
* Familiarity with Peterboroughs culture, events, and community is an advantage
* Some photography experience welcome but not necessary
* Ideally, you will be studying towards a journalism qualification that this opportunity will help towards or looking for free-time experience.
Our audience is based on a mature reader. Articles will be in front of a following of over 34,000 on social as well as being featured on our website blog. As the writer, your name will be published on your articles for proof of publishing for use towards to studies.
Additional Information
This is an unpaid role.
Expenses will be reimbursed for travel as necessary.
If reviewing a restaurant that incurs expense, they will be reimbursed to a set agreed limit.
