Our Specialist Support Team is looking to employ an Apprentice based at HR People Services, Room 348, County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff, CF10 4UW. Some homeworking will be required.

Our Specialist Support Team assist in managing and improving the HR People Services corporate and schools’ processes and procedures. We undertake activities concerning process improvement and management information data. We configure and test HR systems to ensure our customers have a positive experience

About the job

In this Apprentice role you will support our service and will learn to:

* Develop your analytical and problem solving skills
* Configure and testing of HR systems and Microsoft Office applications
* Develop a data-led approach by understanding organisational needs
* Translate information into efficient and accurate format
* Widen your IT and advance on MS Excel skills.

The service team will help and encourage you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties. You will receive supervision and on the job training and will have a named mentor to support you to deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive, customer-focused manner. The Corporate Apprentice Scheme also provides opportunities to enhance your transferrable skills to help support your career progression.

We are moving to online and homeworking and you will be encouraged to develop the skills to support this. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity.


What We Are Looking For From You

Our customers depend on us to keep delivering services even in the most challenging of times. We are looking for individuals who are interested in our work, keen to learn in the role and in helping us making a difference to our customers by delivering exceptional public services in Cardiff.

Our Apprentices gain valuable experience working for the largest Council in Wales. Whilst we cannot guarantee that the appointed candidate will go on to secure a further role at the end of this initial contract, they will be supported and encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities available within our organisation, in order to progress their career.

This post is temporary for 21 months from date of commencement if worked full time, or longer if worked part time. Most roles are based on a 37 hours week although many roles can be worked on a part time basis.

Apprentices will undertake a Foundation Apprenticeship Level 2 in Digital Application Support as part of this role. If you are a graduate, or if you have already gained this qualification, or NVQ, at the same level or higher unfortunately you are not eligible to apply.

Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Director/ Assistant Director/ Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.
